Delve into history at the Marker Museum, housed in six historic homes on Kerkbuurt. Here, you’ll gain a unique insight into life on the former island. Afterwards, take a walk or cycle ride to Het Paard van Marken, the iconic lighthouse at the very tip of the island. Chances are you’ve seen it before: it’s one of the most photographed lighthouses in the Netherlands.
Be sure to stop off at the harbour and enjoy a fresh cup of coffee on the terrace at one of the cosy cafés, with a view over the water and the bobbing boats.
