Schelp Eiland Randmeren

Welcome to the Randmeren

The Randmeren is one of the most diverse and unique wetland areas in the Netherlands — a vast network of lakes situated between the ancient lands of Gelderland and the reclaimed lands of Flevoland. This area is renowned for its open spaces, tranquillity, natural beauty and recreational opportunities, offering visitors endless chances to get active or simply relax by the water. Whether you’re coming for a day’s boating, a sunset sailing trip, a cycle ride along the banks or a moment of relaxation on the beach: the Randmeren offer a unique experience for everyone.

The weather around the Randmeren

Whether the weather is good or not so good, there is plenty to do around the Randmeren. As well as water sports and nature, the area offers a variety of indoor activities, such as museums, galleries and charming cafés and restaurants in towns such as Harderwijk, Elburg, Kampen and Bunschoten-Spakenburg. Even when it rains, there are plenty of options, such as covered boat trips, fishing or a short walk along the water’s edge in suitable clothing. In addition, events and seasonal activities are regularly organised that take place (partly) indoors. So the weather certainly doesn’t have to stand in the way of a visit to the Randmeren.
