Ziltepad - Huisduinen - Anna Paulowna

Discover 25 km of surprising landscape variety from the North Sea coast, through green forests and flower bulb fields, to the serene polder of Anna Paulowna.

Salty greetings and serene polders

This route takes you on an authentic journey of discovery through the Kop van Noord-Holland, a region where landscape and history go hand in hand. You traverse a surprisingly varied area, from the dynamic coastline of Julianadorp aan Zee to the vast, man-made polders of Anna Paulowna. The route offers a unique glimpse into the transformation of the North Holland landscape, shaped by the history of the Wadden Sea and the tidal system, and is an ideal way to completely disconnect from the daily hustle and bustle.

From dunes to fields and water

You start amidst the briny sea breeze and the incessant sound of the waves on the wide beach of Julianadorp aan Zee. Here, the vast sandbanks and loose dune sand invite you to a refreshing start, far away from the crowds. Soon, you exchange the vastness of the coast for a 'garnish of forests' surrounding Julianadorp, a green lung where you can catch your breath. Then, a completely different backdrop unfolds: vast fields full of flower bulbs. Depending on the season – particularly in spring – this landscape transforms into a breathtaking sea of color and scent. Here, you experience the tranquility of the rural surroundings and the power of Dutch flower bulb culture. A short but picturesque ferry crossing then takes you to the dead-straight polder roads. Here, you walk through a landscape of precision and history, characterized by a low horizon and clean lines, all the way to charming Anna Paulowna. It is a quiet part of North Holland where you truly savor the landscape.
