Rondje Bosreservaat (duinroute van PWN)

Rondje Bosreservaat is an 8.2-kilometer walking route through the forests and dunes of the North Holland Dune Reserve, between Castricum and Heemskerk. The route starts at Johanna's Hof and is marked with green triangles.

From cobblestone path to narrow dune path

The route begins at the starting point and restaurant Johanna's Hof, where a total of seven walking routes depart. The first section follows the Johannasweg, a wide cobblestone path that leads the walk into the dunes, past a play forest. Further along, the route leaves the cobblestone path and continues along narrow paths deeper into the dunes.

Open dune and water history

About halfway along, the route leaves the dune forest and leads through an open section of the dunes, with various benches for resting. Waterworks belonging to PWN can also be seen here, and with a bit of luck, you can watch gliders from the local club take off and land. Just before the parking lot, there is a beautiful viewpoint overlooking a pond created for nature development.

A unique quiet area

The North Holland Dune Reserve is a unique nature reserve and quiet zone that protects the hinterland from the sea and plays an important role in water extraction. Historically, coastal residents used the dune terrain and forest to earn a living. A PWN Dune Card is required for access to the area, and dogs are welcome provided they are kept on a leash.
