Birdwatching in the polder between Oostknollendam and Wormer.
You are walking through the Schaalsmeerpolder, a very bird-rich area in the Wormer- and Jisperveld. The Wormer- and Jisperveld is the largest continuous peat meadow area in Western Europe. It consists of hundreds of small meadows surrounded by rustling reed beds and narrow ditches.
Walk from the parking lot towards De Poelboerderij. At the fork, turn left for the route (and right for De Poelboerderij).
The route is signposted with green arrows from the walking route network.
Attention dog owners: there are cattle grids along the way that you must cross with your dog; you cannot pass them everywhere! And the dog must also stay on the path; roaming around on a long leash disturbs too many animals.
