Tour of the West Frisian Ring Dyke 2026
On Sunday, July 12, 2026, the Tour of the Westfriese Omringdijk will take place for the 15th time . Cycle along the legendary Westfriese Omringdijk – a historic monument over 126 kilometers long that has protected West Friesland from the water for some 800 years. Enjoy the polders, the wind, the water, and charming North Holland towns!
Three starting locations
In 2026, you can choose from three starting locations :
- Alkmaar – Ringersplein (the official zero point of the West Frisian Ring Dyke)
- Hoorn – Kerkplein (start in the middle of the atmospheric Golden Age city center)
- Schagen – Market town (cozy square with that immediate West Frisian cycling vibe)
Routes and distances
There is a suitable distance for every cyclist:
- 135 km – The complete Omringdijk experience
- 80 km – A challenging half lap
- 50 km (55 km) – The accessible shorter route (slightly longer due to adjustments)
Start times
- 135 km: start between 08:00 – 09:45
- 80 km: start between 09:00 – 10:30
- 50 km: start between 10:00 – 11:00
